The Southport Waterfront will be a flutter of activity Thursday morning……two new Panamax cranes are scheduled to make a trip up the Cape Fear River Thursday morning, March 29th, to their new home in the Port of Wilmington. These new cranes are taller and with longer booms. They will accommodate the loading and unloading needs of ultra-Panamax container vessels reaching the United States East Coast. In addition, the new cranes will allow the Port of Wilmington to simultaneously service two ultra-Panamax vessels.
A great source of information is NC Ports Website.
They have setup a countdown clock, maps for great viewing locations, and more details on the cranes.
Hope to see you on Our Porch, 114 S. Howe Street, where we will be watching!
